Dr. Franklin W. Schwartz, Professor, Ph.D

Dr. Frank Schwartz is Professor and Ohio Eminent Scholar in Hydrogeology at The Ohio State University in Columbus. His current research interests are in new technologies for the remediation of groundwater contaminated by chlorinated solvents, engineering-based, passive approaches for treating urban runoff, and climate influences on lakes and wetlands in the Prairie Pothole region of the U.S. and Canada. He is the author of more than 170 publications and has co-authored two books, Fundamentals of Groundwater (2003) and Physical and Chemical Hydrogeology (1990, 1998). In recognition of his contributions to reasearch, he was named as a co-recipient of the prestigious O.E. Meinzer Award in 1984, a co-recipient of the Excellence in Science and Engineering Award in 1991, and the King Hubbert Science Award in 1997. He was elected as a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union in 1992. In addition to teaching and research, Frank acts as a consultant to government and industry in areas of dispute resolution and litigation, contaminant hydrogeology, nuclear waste management, mining and the development energy resources, groundwater resource development and modeling.
