Bruce Xu, PhD - Water Resource Scientist

Dr. Xu is a water resource scientist at Aquanty Inc. He received his M.A.Sc and Ph.D in Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto. His Master study focused on the modelling of groundwater flow and contaminant transport in the subsurface, including multiphase advection and dispersion, variable-density flow, evaporation, water table fluctuation, pumping, interfacial mass transfer, sorption, and biodegradation. His Ph.D thesis studied the key factors constraining the observation of aqueous phase diffusion related isotope fractionation in groundwater systems. He also investigated transverse dispersion related isotope fractionation in field scale through the upscaling method based on flux-related second central moments. Dr. Xu’s research interests are also in the modeling of groundwater and surface-water interactions, precipitation and flooding, and water resources management.
